A couple of couture techniques that I picked up (with Jon Moore) when attaching the collar canvas to the bottom collar.
Jon Moore is a couturier with over 30 years experience. As former Couture Director at Hardy Aimes, Jon had the privilege of designing and fitting for Her Majesty the Queen and worked alongside some of the most talented couture fitters, seamstresses and tailors in the country. JON MOORE LTD was established in 2002 - allowing clients from around the World the chance to directly commission Jon to personally create, by-hand, one-off couture garments to exacting specification.
More recently, Jon has started advanced sewing courses at Gaddens Sewing School in the New Forest, Hampshire - and I was thrilled to be asked to work alongside him, assisting our 10 students on the differences between a Cross Stitch and a Whip Stitch! Jon’s astonishing skill and knowledge is something I’ve admired greatly, since becoming friends over 15 years ago and I look forward to learning more from a true master of his craft. A few months ago I was lucky enough to be involved in this beautiful Winter-time photo shoot. We took over the stunning Cornwell Manor; a former hunting lodge nestled in the heart of the Cotswolds. Chris Scuffins was in charge of the lens, 'The Flower Girls' for the styling and flowers, 'Wedding Paint' for the make-up, 'Poppy's Events' for the model and yours truly for the frocks! It was great to meet the team behind Gloucestershire's very first online wedding magazine, SoGlosWeddings, an inspirational and indispensable guide to getting married in the county - from the proposal to the honeymoon. Check out their brand new site!
http://www.soglosweddings.com I popped to the literary festival in Cheltenham this week to catch a talk by Jo Ellison (former Vogue fashion editor) on her new book titled 'The Gown' which delves into the Vogue archives and celebrates everything that's great about long frocks!
I had a stroll down London's famous Saville Row and couldn't help having a nosey at the tailors at work. Oh!, to have just half the knowledge they have.
